Studio City, with a
population of around 26,000, began its
development in the 1920s. Mack Sennett had outgrown his
studio facilities in what would later become Silverlake, so
the man behind the wacky Keystone Cops built a new facility
near Ventura Boulevard and Laurel Canyon. He started
calling the community "Studio City," and the name stuck.
